Tomoyuki (友幸)
My name is 友幸 (Tomoyuki), was born in Tokyo in 1961.
I paint Jesus Christ as I find the truth in his words and to seek answers to my question about the purpose of our existence on this planet.
When I was a child, I used to think I came to the wrong world at the wrong time. I saw our world was a cruel and unfair place with no justice. Human history is basically the constant cycle of conflicts and wars. Racial, social, and cultural discrimination recorded in our history is not only beyond my comprehension but also very disturbing due to which I became depressed in my teenage.
Because of my cultural background I often thought about Japanese Samurais who preferred to select death over life with indignity and humiliation. Their inner sprit took hold so deep in their conscious, maybe in even their sub-conscious so they never hesitated in a split second to sacrifice themselves over a matter of death or life decision. There are numerous historical episodes about their heroic acts. I adore their extremely strong inner sprit but, there is another word that takes much stronger hold in my heart.
“For all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.”
At the time of Jesus's arrest, he sharply admonished Peter to put the sword in its sheath while healing the ear of the high priest servant Peter cut off. Jesus didn’t wish the fate of his disciples to be a mere group of insurgents against Roman empire which most likely would have led them to a brutal suppression by Romans.
Master samurais or martial artists have common saying about the ultimate victory in a fight that is to say, “Defeat your enemy without fighting”.
I regard Jesus Christ as the greatest Samurai and the true human in our world.
He refers himself as "Son of Man" and his teaching, as the eventual matter of fact has conquered Romans and still conquering the world as of today.
