Tomoyuki (友幸)
My name is 友幸 (Tomoyuki) , I am one of the artists of Miracles.
I paint Jesus Christ to seek answers to my questions that was also raised and discussed by many wisemen, philosophers, poets, psychoanalysts, religious leaders, scientists, etc.
- What is the reason of my existence?
- Why do I even exist in this world which repeats cruelty and atrocity? I never asked to be born in this cruel world.
I was a sensitive child and didn’t react well to injustice, unfair behavior of other people including my own father. I used to think I came to the wrong world at the wrong time. I had to learn on my own way to make a sense to all the nonsense in an attempt of defending myself.
Then one day I saw myself becoming the one of those who were superficially kind and polite but have no true human compassion for others.
I felt ashamed myself becoming a mere existence to seek fulfillment of my own enjoyments. Hence I decided to be creative and to encourage others so that at the same time I would be able to achieve a certain sense of accomplishment.
In those days I met my wife in Tokyo, a beautiful and courageous woman from Canada. I believe if she was born in France around 1400, she would have done the same thing Jeanne d’Arc did.
Interestingly, 2 years after we met in Tokyo we moved to France and ended up living there for 10 years. While we were in France, we encountered many challenges as foreigners, but she was courageous like Jeanne d’Arc, and we raised 3 children.
In the year 2000, we came to Canada and continued the family life with three beautiful and healthy children. In Canada, I had to re-educate myself and eventually became a bilingual (EN & FR) IT analyst.
In all my business career in which I was mediocre, but I always did my best to serve people better and earned some recognition as well as a certain sense of accomplishment.
With all fortunate and unfortunate events in my life which I appreciate regardless of what events are derived from or result in specially ever sine I have my own family. However, I never have achived a true sense of living a meaningful life, and those two questions keep coming back.
I often think about Japanese Samurais who preferred to select death over life with indignity and humiliation. Their inner sprit took hold so deep in their conscious, maybe in even their sub-conscious so they never hesitated in a split second to sacrifice themselves over a matter of death or life decision. There are numerous historical episodes about their heroic acts. I adore their extremely strong inner sprit but, there is another word that takes much stronger hold in my heart.
“For all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.”
Jesus sharply admonished Peter to put the sword in its sheath while healing the ear of man Peter cut off with his sword. Jesus didn’t wish the fate of his disciples to be a mere group of insurgents against Roman empire which most likely would have led them to a brutal suppression by Romans.
Master samurais or martial artists have common saying about the ultimate victory in a fight that is to say, “Defeat your enemy without fighting”.
I regard Jesus Christ as the greatest human being ever since the world has come to the existence. He refers himself as "Son of Man" ans his teachings, as the eventual matter of fact conquered the Roman Empire.
I may find the truth which can answer to my questions be found in his words and he is
In 312, the Battle of Milvian Bridge Constantine credited his victory to the Chirtain God and he converted to Chistianity. |
In 330 Constantine founded Constantinenople as a Christian city. |
In 380 CE, the emperor Theodosius issued the Edict of Thessalonica, which made Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire. |
The historians belive that his converion was to gain the submission of all classes so he used Christianity as a political tool. Regardless when I was at Istanbul in 1980s I was admiring the the restored mosaic painting of the Virgin mary and the baby Jesus. The great architecture of Hagia Sophia which has an amzing history of survival incliding the earthquark in 1894 and later became a museum in 1935 under the President Ataturk but then after turned back to a mosque in 2020 under the president Erdogan.
Apart from any political pressure from any period here is the truth.
et lux in tenebris lucet et tenebrae eam non comprehenderunt
